Crown & Bridge Treatment From Your Dentists in Toronto

Whether you’re missing one or more teeth due to injury or decay, or you’re looking for a permanent solution for a partial denture, a dental crown and bridge treatment can offer you a long-lasting, smile-transforming solution you’ll love!

What is a crown and bridge?

A prosthetic tooth that takes the place of a missing natural tooth, a dental bridge is anchored to two supporting crowns that are permanently cemented on natural teeth (or crown-topped implants) on either side of the gap. Once placed, a bridge restores function to the area, balances a patient’s bite, and allows for eating with ease. It also helps prevent changes to the shape of a patient’s face and stops the teeth that surround a missing tooth from shifting.

Bridges can also be placed in areas where just one tooth is available to anchor the device. Otherwise known as a cantilever bridge, the artificial tooth is secured to one tooth and while it isn’t as stable as a bridge anchored by two teeth, it still provides significant benefit to the wearer.

How are they placed?

Typically completed in two office visits, the first appointment involves preparing adjacent teeth by filing them down for the bridge placement. Once complete, impressions will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where your dental crowns and artificial tooth (or teeth) will be crafted. While you wait for your bridge, we’ll provide you with a temporary option that will be removed during your second appointment. When your custom-made bridge is received, we’ll place it and make any necessary adjustments before cementing it in place.
